Comments by the artist: “Poor Ayn Rand! Unfortunately mannish in appearance, the reader can infer from her descriptions of Dagny Taggart and Dominique Francon that she wished for something better. So I’ve reimagined her into someone she might have liked better.

Acrylic on top of gouache on canvas panel. I actually had a difficult time trying to get the gouache to adhere to the primed panel — so eventually I just painted over the entire thing with acrylic. I had to scrape off much of the gouache and start fresh, but hey! Lesson learned. I’ll stick to more absorbent media for gouache from now on. Original is 8″ x 10″. I used this stock photograph from LoriVintage55Stock as a reference.”

Comments by the artist: “I used a photo from some national park website for a general anatomy reference, but this is almost entirely from scratch.

The paper texture is from ~caminopalmero and the linework for the design behind the deer’s head is from =MouritsaDA-Stock , though the colors and paint are all mine.

I really like how this turned out, actually! It’s such a DEAR little deer.”

Health care is not the same as health insurance, which is neither necessary nor sufficient for proper health care. Mr. Stolyarov notes that many people ignore or neglect their own role in providing health care, and misunderstandings of this term threaten many lives. Some of the fundamental problems with the Obama administration’s health care “reform” proposals are also discussed.

This digital artwork was created by Mr. Stolyarov in Apophysis, a free program that facilitates deliberate manipulation of randomly generated fractals into intelligible shapes.

This ornate fractal is Mr. Stolyarov’s third work of fractal art and is an extension of his artistic style of Abstract Orderism. This fractal somewhat resembles an ornate headdress or pin.

Fractal art is based on the idea of the spontaneous order - which is pivotal in economics, culture, and human civilization itself. Now, using computer technology, spontaneous orders can be harnessed in individual art works as well.
